The new Blonde or shall I say Bronde

July 27th, 2010

Do you have dark hair and you are sick of the color yet don’t know what to do with it?  Well, I have very dark hair and decided to lighten it quite a bit.  I didn’t think I could pull it off but I certainly can.  I have gotten more compliments on this color then any color I have done.

A couple of weeks after I lightened my very dark hair, I saw a magazine article about the new color being, “bronde.”  What is that, well it’s not blonde and it’s not brown.  It’s a beautiful shade of caramel on your hair.  It just gives that dark hair a nice sun kissed look.  I have lightened my hair all over.  I don’t love the roots, but I do love the color.  Just be sure when you are seeing your colorist, you discuss how often you plan on getting your hair done.  This all plays into what color you should do with your hair.

I Found a New Mascara

July 20th, 2010

base_mediaFalsiesFor years I was a huge fan of Lancome’s Definicils.  I am still a big fan of it.  However, I am not a fan of the price.  I have found that mascara has come a long way.  It seems every other commercial is about the new latest mascara promising to give you long lashes.  You will need a lash growth product such as Latisse to get that.  It is proven to make lashes longer.

As I have stated in previous blog posts I love Lash Blast by Cover Girl.  Then one day I was in CVS buying my products and the lady who worked in the beauty department swore by the new Falsies by Maybelline.  We all know Allure has written up Great Lash by Maybelline a bunch.  It is a great mascara and I have it in my kit.  However, I have fallen in love with Falsies.  It is a great mascara and does exactly what it promises.  It gives you length and volume.

Too nervous to try something new, while you are buying your regular mascara buy the Falsies as well to give it a try.

Great Weekend!

July 19th, 2010

Wow!  It is definitely summer time!  I am always so busy in the summer.  However, since I love my job it doesn’t always feel like work.  I always add a little playtime in there.

I had a party to go to on Sat night and giving that it’s so hot here in DC you feel like make-up just melts off of your face. I am a huge tinted moisturizer fan.  I have been using the Jane Iredale lately and have liked the light feel of it.  I top it with my Laura Mercier mineral powder.   I have also found to love the new Maybelline Falsies mascara.  I already have long lashes but this definitely gives you length and volume.

I also did a trial run on a beautiful bride.  She is getting married on a boat and wanted a tossled curl look pinned up.  The make-up artist I work with also did a gorgeous make-up job on her.  She really gave her a nice glow.  They were having some really cool pictures done so it worked out well.  Again, as I have said in other blogs, it’s always worth it to have your hair and your make-up done the day of your wedding.

I am back to the grind all week yet thankful to have a job!

Are you ready for your weekend?

July 8th, 2010

It’s Thursday!  It’s definitely a heat wave here on the East Coast.  The only thing that seems to be working for you is your outfit.  The heat is unbearable.

I have a couple of tricks to get you ready for your weekend.  Do you want to straighten your hair?  Mine has a crazy wave to it and definitely frizzes in the summer.  If you can’t get the Brazillian Blowout which is excellent for your hair in the summer.  Try slicking your hair in a ponytail and waiting a while to blowdry it.  This will help it be alot straighter.  Be sure to put your product in your hair before the ponytail.

If you have your essential beach bag, don’t forget your SPF.  Even if you have a nice base, be sure to put your sunscreen on.  It’s not worth all of the skin damage your skin will go through.   Definitely protect your face.  Even if your face is a little lighter, there is always brozner.

New Summer Skin Care

July 6th, 2010

As we all know it’s very hot outside!  The last thing you want is a bunch of stuff on your face.  I was in a pinch and needed skin care badly!  I work in a Med Spa so it isn’t a problem for me to get good skin care.  I am all about helping your face look better.  I too like a tan but have tried to be very good about using sunscreen on my face while out at the pool.  The one that I feel works the best and does the trick is Obagi Sun Guard SPF 35.  It seems to do the trick and definitely prevents my face from getting burned.

I also discovered the NeBlancheobagi serumneocutisocutis skin care.  I still am a fan of Obagi face cleanser.  I love the Neocutis Journee.  What a great moisturizer.  It has SPF 30 already in it and antioxidants.  I also use the Vitamin C serum by Obagi 20%.  At night to help prevent my brown spots wheich I am very prone to, I use the Blanche by Neocutis.  It is a skin bleaching cream.  However, you have to be sure you have SPF at all times as bleaching creams more or less work as a band aid for brown spots.

Good luck with your summer skin care and be sure to use your SPF.  If you are soaking up the sun, remember to keep re applying. As always I am still loving my Clarisonic!

Wedding Hair and Make-up

June 29th, 2010

I have blogged about it before and will blog again.  Wedding hair and make-up being a must.  Why is that?  Especially if you know how to do your own make-up well.  Why not just spend your big day being pampered.   It’s the biggest day of your life.  You will look at these pictures forever.  I tell everyone, if you are going to spend the money on a photographer you may as well spend the money on  a the hair and the make-up.

As I have stated before.  Start doing some research.  It’s well worth it.  If you have some friends who have gotten married then ask them who did their hair and make-up.  You want to look and feel your best on such a big day.  It’s worth every penny.  I always say, if you feel comfortable with the stylist and the make-up artist, thats great.  If not, then look for a team  who is going to help make your day memorable.

Style Thursday, with the weekend a day away, here are some style tips for hair and make-up

June 10th, 2010

042It’s the season for weddings and parties or even a night out with friends.  When I hit and event, I always think of stepping on the red carpet.  Why not?  It’s an event and there will be plenty of pictures taken so why not look your best.  If you saw my blog post yesterday, see if you can get your make-up done or have make-up artist come to you.  I did that this past weekend, a couple of single ladies were heading out for the evening and wanted their make-up done and hair.

A couple of weeks ago I went to a wedding.  I had to get the bride and the bridal party ready.  I had limited time to get ready and my hair seemed like a wreck.  I am seeing alot of side swept dos.  For myself I pulled it all to the side and started pinning it.  It looked great.  I got the idea from, “Style Watch People.”  In pics my hair looked great.  The woman heading out on the town the other night, I did same thing, we put a hairpiece in her hair and I swept it to the side.  This gave it a nice look and I pinned the curls around it.

All you need is some bobby pins and hair spray.  Try throwing a few loose curls in your hair as well.  The picture is the wedding I went to a couple of weeks ago with my side swept hair and the make-up and hair on the bride.

Hair and Make-up a must!

June 9th, 2010

Well it’s summer time!  Lots of events coming up and you want to look your best.  So why can’t you.  I had the pleasure of doing a couple of girls hair and make-up for a divorce party.  Yes, they were going out for a night on the town.  Why not live it up.  They were kind enough to call me up to do their hair and make-up and they looked great!!  We had fun with the lashes and a smokey eye!  They didn’t look like they had a ton of make-up on.  They just looked great all the way around.

Whether you are going to a weddng, getting married or yet going out with the girls, why not splurge and have your make-up done?  It’s well worth it.

Brazillian Blowout

June 8th, 2010

brazil-logoA Brazillian Blowout is the latest and I must say the greatest.  I have been doing many treatments.  Bellini Salon offered a Group On deal and we are doing them left and right.  People are having fabulous results.   It is the perfect timing to get one.  Especially with summer right around the corner.  The Brazillian Blowout, cuts down on your drying time, makes your hair more manageable, and cuts down on frizz.  It’s a 2 hour process and infuses Keratin into your hair.

Before and After

Before and After

Isn’t that great!!!  Treatments start at $350 and you have to buy the associated products.  There are no stipulations.  Go ahead, throw that hair in a ponytail.  Shampoo it the next day.  You will have shine that you have never had.    Better yet, sick of your frizz, book, an appointment.  Be sure it’s Brazillian Blowout.  There are many products out there.

Get Ready For the Weekend! It’s Thursday!!!

June 3rd, 2010

100sunscreenMemorial Day has come and gone and summer is officially here!  Just a few little tips to have your bag ready if you are travelling or lounging poolside!

So you feel somewhat ready on that part.  Most of us will over indulge this weekend.  Whether it’s with food or alcohol or lack of sleep or all three.  Go back and read last Monday’s blog on remedies after the weekend.

You are so excited, you can’t hardly wait.  What should you pack?  You know I am going to say sunscreen.  You can’t come back from your holiday sunburned.  Not only is it painful but extremely unhealthy.  I love the spray sunscreens.  I always wear 30.  I think with the first weekend of sun exposure, you have to be careful.  If you have a decent base the minimum I would use is 15.  Don’t forget to reapply.  My favorite face sunscreen is Obagi.  I blog about it all the time.  I love it and I feel like it really protects.  All of the work I put into my face in the winter, I don’t want to reverse the affects in the summer.

Don’t forget your hair.  Yes, you just got your hair colored and you don’t want to fade.  Be sure to wear a hat.  I am sure there is a cute one out there for you to wear.  Try on different styles and see what works.  This will also protect your face.
